This awesome vintage Capitol Records film was made in 1951 purely for promotional use within the record companies, it was never shown to the public. If you’ve ever been curious about how vinyl albums are made (from the studio recording to the pressing plant) this video shows it all.

Choice 1951 quote on the materials that go into making vinyl:  “All these materials are mixed much more carefully than the average housewife mixes her cake. Fractions of an ounce of an ingredient determine the quality of the finished record.”

It’s a very cute film with classic footage of LA, and cameos from Dean Martin (in the studio actually recording an album)  and guitar legend Les Paul among others.
